Backlash Continues

Well, it seems that the Fixed Gear haters are enjoying a revival of late. There are plenty of blogs and websites and facebook pages which are happy to spread the hatred and hostility. It comes from all angles and often unexpected places.

Personally, I can't wait for the time when the majority have forgotten about us. When the only people left doing it are the people who still love it an ride for the right reasons. More often than not though I'm just alone on my bike and, during that time, I don't care about any of it. I don't care about anything. I don't really even think about anything. There is this preconceived stereotyped idea of who we are, who we want to be and how we want to be seen, but, I can honestly say (and can only talk about the friends that I ride with) we are all just happy to ride our bikes, explore, have fun, mess around, fall, go fast, get lost, get cold, get sunburnt, talk equipment, talk shit, whatever.

My bike is my main method of transportation around the city. I put my car off the road months ago and it feels great. The winter is almost behind us now and it's going to be easy from now on. I'm riding more and more and my enthusiasm is showing no signs of wavering. Isn't that the point? It's looking like it's going to be a 150+ week and I've never felt better.
